![]() ![]() ![]() As each grid is activated, so are the anode connections for the desired display segments. The anodes are the segments that light up. Each grid is taken positive in turn this allows the electrons to flow towards and through it, on to the anodes. This is held at a negative potential compared to everything else, so that the emitted electrons are attracted towards the positive grids and anodes. VFD's need a filament supply, probably AC with a large display like this, that heats the filament wires that you can see running across the tube. You will not find a driver chip designed for your VFD, and probably won't be able to find a datasheet for it either. VFD's are not hard to drive, but you might find it a complicated project as a beginner. ![]()
